It was then the man disclosed that he had intravenously injected his own semen in an attempt to treat his back pain.

An examination at a Dublin hospital revealed he had an abscess on his right arm.

Dr. Dunne states that this man was using the unorthodox approach in order to help him with longstanding lower-back pain that he was enduring.

The case study reveals that the man "devised this cure without any independent medical advice".

The patient developed a subcutaneous abscess on his right arm, where he had been injecting himself with semen on a monthly basis for 18 months.

"Upon this occasion the patient had injected three "doses" of semen intra-vascularly and intra-muscularly", the report said.

In a report from the Irish Medical Journal, it states how the man got a sudden onset of lower back pain after lifting a heavy steel object and from that devised the idea of his freaky "treatment".

It places Monday's effort second on the list of highest scoring games for the Rockets, behind his own 60 points from last season. With the Rockets badly banged up, the superstar was a one-man show Monday, tying his season-low for assists with just two.

The man insisted he had been injecting his own semen for the last 18 months himself after buying a hypodermic needle online.

An x-ray of the arm showed subcutaneous emphysema and oedema - excess fluid and air under the skin.

She found there were no other reported cases of intravenous semen injection found across medical literature. Before they could drain the swelling, however, the man discharged himself from the hospital.

Dunne wrote in the case study that she believed the semen injections was the first case of its kind.

Needless to say, the semen injections did not cure his back pain - which worsened after he lifted a heavy steel object - but his condition improved after a short hospital stay. "A search of more eclectic internet sites and forums found no other documentation of semen injection for back pain treatment or other uses".

"The case also demonstrates the risks involved with medical experimentation prior to extensive clinical research".
