Undercover investigator and a key member of Anas Aremeyaw Anas' Tiger Eye Private Investigations team, Ahmed Hussein-Suale has been shot dead.

"Ahmed was rushing home around 11 pm [Ghana time] after news that his daughter was sick and was shot through his auto window, with two bullets hitting his chest and one hitting his neck", Sammy Darko, a member of Tiger Eye PI's legal team, told Accra-based Citi FM on Thursday morning.

Local media report that Ahmed Hussein-Saule was shot twice in the chest and once in the neck by the unidentified gunmen in the capital of Accra. He said that and showed images of him on his tv station, Net 2.

Husein's lawyer, Kissi Agyabeng, said the member of parliament had questions to answer.

Agyebeng said due to strategic reasons, he can not disclose the next course of action for Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team but they are surely beefing up security.

The Committee to Protect Journalists called for an immediate investigation and for Ghanaian authorities to "ensure that threats against the press are taken seriously".

Ghana ranked 23rd out of 180 countries in the Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF) 2018 World Press Freedom Index - an improvement of three places on the previous year. RSF has previously condemned threats against Anas after he revealed "threatening calls, intimidatory messages and suspicious vehicles near his home".
