The trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre Aubameyang were named in the African's best X1 for the year 2018.

The Egyptian forward helped the Reds to the Champions League final in May and has been a vital part of their assault on the Premier League title so far this season.

Egypt striker Mohamed Salah was voted as the African Footballer of the Year for the second successive year on Tuesday - but it was the Liverpool player's cringe-worthy dancing on stage after accepting the award that is grabbing most of the attention.

Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also made the three-man shortlist for the award.

Salah becomes the fourth African after El Hadji Diouf, Samuel Eto'o, Yaya Toure to win the award back to back. Hours earlier, his country had been awarded the hosting rights for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after the CAF had stripped original hosts Cameroon of the honour.

Salah blossomed in Rome, averaging close to a goal every two matches, and Liverpool paid nearly €41 millionn (£37 million) to sign him two years ago.
