CERN, the European research organization responsible for operating the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), has released a report outlining a proposed particle accelerator that would be almost four times as long and 10 times as powerful as its predecessor.
She said: "It shows the tremendous potential of the FCC to improve our knowledge of fundamental physics and to advance many technologies with a broad impact on society".
Using high-field superconducting magnets, the FCC proton collider would offer a wide range of new physics opportunities-including deeper insight into the Higgs boson, or "God particle".
But the new FCC machine - at a cost of around £17.8billion - will be nearly 10 times more powerful than the Hadron Collider and would hold the potential to "significantly expand our knowledge of matter and the universe". The design for the FCC would be some 100 kilometers (62 miles) long and, when operating at full capacity, collide particles at 10 times the energy of the LHC. The 100 TeV energy would allow more precise studies of how the Higgs particle interacts with other Higgs particles. Over the next two years, the scientists will decide how to continue their research after the Large Hadron Collider. "The FCC timeline foresees starting with an electron-positron machine, just as LEP preceded the LHC".
Preparatory work on the FCC began in 2014, imagining a machine capable of providing "electron-positron, proton-proton and ion-ion collisions at unprecedented energies and intensities, with the possibility of electron-proton and electron-ion collisions".
Scientists have announced plans for the largest experiment ever conducted - a £21 billion plan to find a "theory of everything". The new plans call for a machine with a diameter 73km larger. "This would enable a rich programme to benefit the particle physics community throughout the twenty-first century", Bordry explained.
Chelsea set to part ways with two forwards in January Higuain has spent the past few months on loan at AC Milan but has struggled for form and goals with the Rossoneri . The 31-year-old played in Saudi Arabia yesterday for loan side AC Milan against parent club Juventus .

"Proton colliders have been the tool-of-choice for generations to venture new physics at the smallest scale".
Officials hope for a decision by CERN's 22 member states within the next few years about the project that would debut with an electron-positron collider at an estimated cost of nine billion euros (NZ$15 billion).
China has also announced plans past year to build a similarly sized accelerator, aiming for a 20-mile diameter ring, and 5x the LHC output.
A second phase would involve a superconducting proton machine in the same tunnel, at a cost of about 15 billion euros (NZ$25b) more. The physics programme could start by 2040 at the end of the High-Luminosity LHC.
CERN also outlined plans to building another machine which will be incorporated into the same tunnel and is expected to come online in the late 2050s.
A horrifying video has emerged showing the aftermath of a auto accident involving Prince Philip , close to Sandringham estate. In response a royal source told Reuters: 'The duke is in perfectly good health, he is just spending the day privately'.
Who knows if that's true, but there's no doubt Hurts became the No. 1 quarterback transfer as soon as his name was in the portal. Hurts was relieved at halftime of the national championship game by freshman Tua Tagovailoa , and Bama came back and won.
The game will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on January 15, 2019, and officially closed on April 16, 2019. The app has already been removed from digital storefronts, with the game's servers going offline April 16.

The action we've taken quickly in December and implementation of production cuts is a lifeline to U.S. shale oil producers. Opec is cutting production by 800,000 barrels per day and non-Opec members by 400,000 barrels per day.
The study also suggested sleeping more than eight hours a night may be associated with an increase in atherosclerosis. Sleep disruption and deprivation may lead to an increase in cardiovascular risk, an observational study affirmed.
But it was nearly a premature celebration, as Boston charged all the way back to get within seven in the final minute. Brad Stevens went with a lineup of Jaylen Brown , Jayson Tatum , Brad Wanamaker, Daniel Theis and Guerschon Yabusele.
Arsenal's Petr Cech has announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of the season. Cech suffered a serious head injury in 2006 following a collision with Reading's Stephen Hunt.
Kyrgios said he was available for Davis Cup but didn't think he'd be picked because "there's a lot of good players right now". Tomic beat Hewitt in their first ever professional meeting, a five-set epic at the US Open, the latter's last singles match.
Washington chipped away, helped by Bradley Beal's second triple-double of the season with 43 points, 10 assists and 15 rebounds. It's also technically a home game and the Wizards have been much better in those (13-8) than they have in road games.
