Microsoft has made a free Office app for Windows 10

Windows Sandbox will enable safe isolation and testing of suspicious programs in Windows 10 19H1 Windows 10 Sandbox feature will let you safely run suspect apps

Every instance of Windows Sandbox presents a fresh brand-new desktop and applications that run within this neither persist their states nor can affect the host.

Microsoft has officially announced Windows Sandbox, formerly known as InPrivate Desktop, through which users can run untrusted executables in relative isolation.

Note that it is not recommended to run a "check for updates" on Windows Update as it may deliver updates that you don't want installed on the device; this may be a new feature update for Windows 10.

Once this Sandbox is closed, all the software, residual files, and other data are permanently deleted. But Microsoft is taking that a step further with a new feature called Windows Sandbox. Windows Sandbox will be a part of the 19H1 update, expected to land in the first half of next year.

The Microsoft blog post covers everything you would need to know, in a brief summary and then in more depth. An official page in the Microsoft Feedback Hub briefly appeared to describe such a security feature, but it was hastily removed after a few sites reported upon its existence. Windows Sandbox will allow files to be copied from the host system and pasted into it. This will allow Windows 10 users to run specific programs in an isolated environment that can not harm their data or otherwise interfere with the running of their PC. Users still need a PC capable of virtualisation.

Packers vs. Bears Week 15
That was a better, so, the very first week against Green Bay Rodgers dropped a dime for about 55 in the corner of the end zone. But the Bears secured their first trip to the playoffs in eight years with their seventh win in eight games.

The Office app was released under the Windows Insiders (Fast) program, meaning it will be available to all Windows 10 users for free very soon.

Another "hybrid" design choice that Microsoft made was in how Sandbox shares memory with the host system. This is what allows the "base image" that is used in a Windows Sandbox environment to be only 100MB, as opposed to several GB, which is what a new Windows installation/image would take.

Microsoft's engineers, uh, engineered the Sandbox in a clever way.

Mostly a lightweight virtual machine, Windows Sandbox is integrated into Windows 10, so no additional virtual machine software is required.

Although Windows Sandbox may not offer the exact same security guarantees as virtual machines do, it does seem to come rather close, while still being much more practical to use.
