The rocket takeoff was postponed until Wednesday, when a 26-minute backup launch window opens at 9:07 a.m. EST, the company said.

Elon Musk's rocket company is going to take more time to diagnose a glitch with one of its brand-new Block 5 Falcon 9 boosters that was set to haul a high-tech Global Positioning System satellite to orbit for the US Air Force. On Tuesday, a ground equipment issue forced Blue Origin to call off the attempted suborbital launch of its New Shepard spacecraft from West Texas.

SpaceX sued the US Air Force in 2014 in protest over the military's award of a multibillion-dollar, non-compete contract for 36 rocket launches to United Launch Alliance, a partnership of Boeing and Lockheed. The launch window then begins at 9:07 A.M Eastern.

It'll be carrying a satellite for the U.S. Air Force.

Pence took the opportunity to provide an update on the Trump administration's plans to create a U.S. Space Force, saying the president is setting up a new Space Command to oversea all the nation's activities in the space arena. He said the company would be using its Falcon 9 Block 5 to launch the satellite and added that it was the same equipment that SpaceX would be using to launch astronauts to the International Space Station come 2019.

Elon Musk's SpaceX halted Tuesday's launch of a long-delayed navigation satellite for the US military, postponing for at least a day the space transportation company's first designated national security mission for the United States. The long-awaited flight already had slipped to almost the end of the available launch window because of high upper level winds when the issue cropped up. The satellite is nicknamed "Vespucci" after America's namesake explorer Amerigo Vespucci.

Third up will be Arianespace, which is flying one of Russia's Soyuz rockets and launching a satellite from Europe's spaceport in French Guiana at roughly 6.37pm South African time.
