Benjamin Netanyahu's son was temporarily banned from Facebook after a series of anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian posts. "There are also thousands posts with death threats for me and my family that do not get removed by Facebook, as they fall under the label of freedom of speech".

In another he wrote, "Do you know where there are no attacks, in Iceland and Japan". All the Jews leave the land of Israel. 2. "I prefer the second Option".

The 27-year-old slammed the social network as "thought police" and shared posts it had deleted. "Due to that, this content was removed from our platform, as we would do for anyone posting similar content about any protected characteristic".

Yair, who shared a screenshot of the earlier post in violation of Facebook's community rules, took to Twitter to criticise the social networking giant, calling it a "dictatorship of thought".

Mr Netanyahu drew widespread criticism past year after he posted a meme mocking some of his father's critics, including billionaire financier George Soros, which the Anti-Defamation League said was anti-Semitic.

Facebook added to the outlet that Yair Netanyahu's claim "that we are censoring criticism of the company on the platform is plainly untrue" and that it never removes such posts. On Monday, he posted on Facebook that the media, as well as left-wing NGOs and politicians, are "traitors", the Times of Israel reported.

Yair Netanyahu came under fire after Israeli media made public a recording where he's heard asking for cash from a friend whose father, he suggests, has benefited enormously from Netanyahu's passing a multi-billion dollar gas deal through the Knesset.

Yair Netanyahu has, Al Jazeera noted, "faced criticism of being a grown man living in the prime minister's residence despite having no official role", causing controversy in his father's administration on multiple occasions.
