A tomb discovered at the Saqqara necropolis south of Cairo, Egypt, belonged to a royal priest known as Wahtye.
"It is exceptionally well preserved, coloured, with sculpture inside".
Tombs were built away from Pyramids and apparently some of the finest tombs can be found in Saqqarah.
Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anani said the tomb had been discovered at the Saqqara archaeological site and was from the 5th dynasty of the pharaohs, which ruled roughly 4,400 years ago.
The tomb at the Saqqara necropolis is in good condition and its walls are lined with images depicting the tomb owner, a high priest, and his family, according to Egypt's Minister of Antiquities, Dr. Khalid Al Anani.
The tomb belonged to the Priest of royal Purification during the reign of King Nefer Ir-Ka-Re, named "Wahtye".
The general director of the site, Sabry Farag, said the tomb was about 10 meters (33 feet) long and 3 meters (10 feet) wide, with a basement.
'The colour is nearly intact even though the tomb is nearly 4,400 years old'.
"We managed to remove the debris from the tomb's facade, a lintel on top of the tomb's door was revealed, " Waziri was quoted by Egypt Today as saying.
