Fansided's Jason Cole says the lawsuit filed by the city will push the Raiders out of the town after this season.

Following news on Tuesday afternoon that the city of Oakland had filed suit against the Raiders, a report from National Football League insider Jason Cole indicated that there is "no way" the team will return in 2019 while the city intends to take them to court.

In a press release issued by the city, City Attorney Barbara J. Parker referred to the NFL and its franchises as a "cartel", adding: "The defendants brazenly violated federal antitrust law and the league's own policies when they boycotted Oakland as a host city".

The Oakland Raiders are being sued by the city they are now representing - but will soon desert.

Meanwhile, the lawsuit will not ask the court to prevent the Raiders' move to Las Vegas or keep the team in Oakland.

"The suit notes that Raiders owner Mark Davis was among the beneficiaries of relocation fees paid by the Rams and Chargers and alleges that none of the money actually goes toward relocation-related expenses".

The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, in partnership with the law firms of Berg & Androphy and Pearson, Simon & Warshaw, LLP.

But Coliseum authority Executive Director Scott McKibben told The San Jose Mercury News the team "made it very clear" it would not sign a lease extension if the city sued the team. He has since walked back those statements somewhat: 'I personally want to play in Oakland.

A Raiders spokesman could not be immediately reached to comment for this report. "I absolutely want to play in Oakland".

"We're disappointed, but now we're focused on future years", said Kansas City Sports Commission President Kathy Nelson. The Raiders' lease at the Coliseum ends at the conclusion of this season. First, they hired Quinn, who has defeated the National Football League multiple times in court. And this is awful negotiating I'm doing now. But that's just the way I am.

The Raiders exit from Oakland is going to be somehow uglier than we first thought.
