Shiva Singh's recent unconventional delivery stride was ruled a dead ball when he did a 360-twirl before delivering his left-arm spin.

The incident has sparked debate on social media with numerous people giving their take on the delivery in question.

As far as the law is concerned, Clause 20.4.2.7 of MCC says: "either umpire shall call and signal dead ball when there is an instance or deliberate attempt to distract under either of the Laws 41.4 (Deliberate attempt to distract the striker) or 41.5 (Deliberate distraction, deception or obstruction of batsman)". "The umpires said dead ball, so I asked, "why are you calling it a dead ball?"

Shiva has claimed that this was not the first time he had bowled in the 360-degree style but it was definitely the first time that umpire called it a dead ball.

"I delivered this 360-degree ball against Kerala in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well, where it was fine". The match is being played at the Bengal Cricket Academy ground at Kalyani.

Return to oil production cuts in 2019 can not be ruled out - OPEC
South Korea has averaged over 200,000 bpd of oil imports from Iran so far this year, down from around 350,000 bpd in 2017. The bans had been lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

"Under Law 21.1, the bowler must state his/her mode of delivery, which seems to have been left arm round the wicket in this case, but does not state how conventional the bowler's approach should be", the MCC's Law department said in the Lord's Law blog.

Some cricket fans raised the comparison of batsmen's ability to switch-hit, changing their stance from right-handed to left-handed or vice-versa, without drawing the umpire's criticism. "But when bowlers do something like this it's deemed a dead ball".

"The law only states if an offence is made to distract the batsman, rather than the batter actually getting distracted".

"Unless the 360-degree twirl was part of the bowler's run-up for every ball, the umpire may need to consider whether he/she feels that the twirl was done in an attempt to distract the batsman in some way".
