Two not so popular cricketers in New Zealand domestic circuit have broken the record of most runs off a single over in List-A cricket.

Willie Ludick, who grew up in Pretoria and was a member of the 2016 SA Under-19 team at the World Cup, was smashed for an incredible 43 runs off an eight-ball over in a domestic List A game between Central Districts and Northern Districts on Wednesday. The bowler at the receiving end was South Africa-born fast bowler Willem Ludick.

Back to Hamilton, Hampton started the onslaught with a four followed by two sixes off two waist-high no-balls.

South Africa's Herschelle Gibbs also hit six sixes for a tally of 36 off Netherlands legspinner Daan van Bunge during a 2007 World Cup match in St. Kitts, the most in an worldwide one-dayer.

He further said, "We got a couple of free no balls which helped us to get going".

The bowler would consider himself unlucky as the first ball of the over was a flawless widish yorker which could have been chopped onto the stumps, but it luckily for the batsman missed the wickets and went for a boundary. "We came together (at the end of the over) and said 'how many did we get on that?' I think we said it was 39".

The bowler, who went into his 10th over with figures of 1-42, returned 1-85.

Before this, the record was with Zimbabwe worldwide Elton Chigumbura, who had scored 39 runs off Alauddin Babu while playing for Sheikh Jamal against Abahani Limited at Dhaka in the 2013-14 season.

They joined hands in the middle when their side was reeling at 95 for 5 The duo went on to add 178 runs for the sixth wicket.
