Blizzard has more mobile games in the works beyond Diablo Immortal

Activision Earnings & The Fallout from Its Diablo Mobile Fiasco Blizzard denies pulling Diablo 4 announcement from BlizzCon 2018

"Many of us over the last few years have shifted from playing primarily desktop to playing many hours on mobile, and we have many of our best developers now working on new mobile titles across all of our IPs". This wording implies Activision Blizzard will go the in-game microtransaction route, and since that is a prominent fear among Diablo Immortal's critics (and a major cause of the criticism), we must call into question the veracity of this prediction.

Given the massive Diablo backlash, the timing of this announcement kind of makes sense. Instead, Blizzard's Allen Adham noted in a recent Q&A that Blizzard is actually working on several mobile titles for other company properties. Some of them, as in the case of Diablo Immortal, is with external partners.

Adham said Blizzard chose to create a mobile version of Diablo (and, I would assume, other games that have yet to be announced) because mobile technology now enables a degree of fidelity that's comparable to PC and console gaming.

Hot on the heels of its Diablo Immortal announcement, Blizzard has confirmed it has mobile projects in the works for multiple franchises.

While Blizzard denies that any game reveal was pulled from Blizzcon, they don't outright dispute the claim that the video exists.

Given the "Cancel Diablo Immortal" petition on Change.org has nearly reached 35,000 signatures, we can not say for certain if these analysts' predictions are accurate or pipe dreams.

Blizzard senior producer Pete Stilwell had participated in an interview with GameSpot in which he has revealed that the company now has no plans for Warcraft 4.

Given Adham's comment about the quantity of projects the team is now working on, it's fair to assume that at least some of them will be major PC releases and that, as the company has assured its fans, Diablo 4 will be among them. Diablo is an important, tentpole franchise for Blizzard.

Microsoft had a similar moment at E3, announcing the Gears POP! mobile game right before Gears 5. He also teased that Diablo for mobile could be just the first of Blizzard's franchise to get mobile releases, as another Blizzard executive already said.

"Mobile is the biggest platform in gaming today", Brack said.
