While it is possible that Amazon is having similar advanced talks with others on its short list of 20 regions, none have become public.
According to the report "people close to the process" said that Amazon is in discussions about relocating employees to the area, potential office buildings it could occupy, and how to make its announcement to the public.
The Northern Virginia neighborhood is just across the Potomac River from the nation's capital and discussions are apparently far enough along that one of the city's prominent real estate developers, JBG Smith, has pulled some of its property off the market.
She said she did not know when state officials last talked with Amazon or if they will reach out to the company following the Post's report.

A spokesperson for Amazon declined to comment.
Amazon has said it plans to announce the new headquarters this year, which means the company now has less than 60 days to make a decision. A decision is scheduled by the end of the year, with 20 cities in the USA and Canada in the running.
