It will be interesting to see if the Steelers eventually do add another pass rusher for this stretch run.

After news broke that Irvin was signing with his home-town team, Irvin took to Twitter to celebrate.

The pass rusher was cut by the Oakland Raiders last week after he played just nine snaps in their loss to the San Francisco 49ers. With $3.8 million left on his contract, the defensive lineman cleared waivers on Tuesday and was a free agent. The Seahawks were thought to be a consideration for Irvin because he played four years for the Seahawks, who chose him in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Irvin instead chose to reunite with former Seahawks defensive coordinator and current Falcons head coach Dan Quinn.

The Falcons have won three straight games though their defense, ravaged by injuries, remains a liability; the unit ranks 30th, according to Football Outsiders, ahead of only the Raiders and Buccaneers. With Vic Beasley and Takk McKinley already in place on the edge, might Quinn and defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel get creative and bump one of them inside?

The Falcons plan to play Irvin, who was released by the Raiders this past Saturday, in this Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"You know, every team thinks you're going to Atlanta", Irvin recalled Segal telling him.

Along with the signing of Bruce Irvin came the news that middle linebacker Deion Jones will be returning in two weeks.

"I'm the icing on the top", Irvin said. Keep an eye out for my articles covering the Falcons, Yellowjackets and other collegiate and professional teams.
