In the clip released this morning, ABC News's Chief National Affairs Correspondent Tom Llamas was not shown asking the First Lady to specify what she mean by "hard evidence".

"I support the women, and they need to be heard", Trump said in an ABC News interview taped last week during her trip to Africa.

In the preview for the interview, the first lady is asked about her marriage in light of her husband's infidelity and if she is an ally to #MeToo movement.

"We need to have a really hard evidence that if you're accused of something-show the evidence", Trump urged.

Taylor Swift gets political at awards
She added that the awards represented "encouragement and motivation to be better and work harder". Other performers included Mariah Carey , Jennifer Lopez , Shawn Mendes and twenty one pilots.

Some people talked about feeling shame, others said they wanted to forget the assault. We need to support them.

The interview came in the wake of the controversial hearings in which Justice Brett Kavanaugh defended himself from allegations of sexual assault in the early 1980s.

Trump also said that some organizations and foundations were unwilling to partner with her due to their distaste for the administration in another portion of the interview aired on Tuesday. "And also men, not just women". Echoing her husband and Republicans who have accused the press of eagerly reporting stories of misconduct without evidence, Trump added that "sometimes the media goes too far". Kavanaugh denied those, as has Trump.

Kavanaugh's former schoolmate Dr Christine Blasey Ford claimed he'd tried to rape her during a house party during the early 1980s, and gave a tearful account of what she says happened to a Senate Judiciary Committee.
