Israeli jets strike Gaza in response to Palestinian rockets

Rocket fired into Israel from Gaza: Israeli army Israeli officials ramp up calls for a 'strong blow' against Gaza

Israeli fighter jets struck targets in the Gaza Strip early on Wednesday after a rocket was sacked and hit a home in southern Israel.

The Israeli army produced a video showing a man near the border preparing a rocket launch when he was targeted in an air strike.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to take "strong action" against the Gaza Strip after a rocket from Gaza slammed into an Israeli home in Beersheba before dawn on Wednesday.

Hamas has intensified its violent demonstrations against Israel, turning the border between the Jewish state and the Gaza Strip into a "24/7" war zone as the terrorist group amps up its efforts to kidnap Israeli soldiers, according to Israeli security sources and regional reports.

Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman ordered the closure of both of Israel's border crossings with Gaza on Wednesday following the attacks.

The rocket fell into the garden of a house occupied by a family with three children who were being treated for shock, local media reported.

Lieberman said that deadly clashes on Friday, after Israel helped facilitate diesel shipments to the fuel-starved Gaza Strip, were a turning point.

On a related note, FOX News continues to misreport the staging of Hamas's recurring assaults on Israel as a "protest" against "the Israeli blockade" - the blockade that is meant to prevent terrorists from obtaining the tools of their trade.

Following the rocket attack, schools were closed in Beersheba and in the communities immediately surrounding the Gaza Strip and residents of the Gaza periphery were barred from holding gatherings of more than 300 people outdoors and 500 people indoors.

Death toll doubles after intense flash-flooding in southwest France
Even as overnight rains that swept in from the Mediterranean began to ease Monday morning, the ministry said the toll could rise. The water level in the river Aude rose to 7 meters, what caused the flooding of several settlements in the area of Carcassonne .

Israeli cabinet ministers have amplified calls for a "strong blow" against ruling party Hamas in the blockaded Gaza Strip in recent days, up to and including the possibility of all-out war.

"We reject all irresponsible attempts that try to change the direction and sabotage the Egyptian efforts, including the overnight firing of the rocket", they said.

The rocket attack comes as an Egyptian delegation arrived in Gaza on Tuesday led by Ahmed Abdul Khaleq, an intelligence official in charge of the Palestinian file.

Protesters threw flaming tires over the fence Monday, while fishing boats hoisted Palestinian flags.

Earlier, Conricus told CBN News that Hamas is trying to involve the worldwide community by getting Israel to kill Palestinians.

At least 205 Palestinians and one Israeli have been killed since March 30.

"We are very close to a different kind of activity, an activity that will include very powerful blows".

"If it has any sense, Hamas will cease its fire and violent outbursts - now", he said.

Hamas's goal is create as much confusion and violence on the border as possible to elicit a response from the Israeli Defense Forces that could provide the terror group with an opportunity to kidnap soldiers.
