More than 53 pounds of un-used medications were collected and will be incinerated by law enforcement.

The drugs will be sent to the Department Enforcement Administration where they will properly dispose them. The event will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m.at dozens of locations throughout the state.

Police departments are once again collecting expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs across New Hampshire.

The DEA says over six million Americans misused prescription drugs in 2016, the majority of which came from home.

Consumers can safely and anonymously drop off prescription drugs at any one of the 20 designated Tops supermarkets any time of year during normal pharmacy hours. The agency notes that it can not accept liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches.
