One report identified the alleged spy as Kyle McLaughlin (left).

That report comes on the back of report from Metro USA saying man claiming to be an Astros employee was removed from a media-credentialed area near the Boston Red Sox dugout during Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.

The first mistake was pulling starter Dallas Keuchel after five innings, giving up two runs on four hits, and replacing him with Joe Smith, his first appearance in the postseason. After being asked about the man claiming to be an Astros' employee and the warning given to the Red Sox, an Indians spokesman said via email on Tuesday, "We are not going to comment on this situation". He did say the matter was resolved early in Game 1 and that it had no impact on the Red Sox losing 7-2. McLaughlin was removed by security in Cleveland and Boston, according to the report.

The Indians were swept by the Astros, who after winning twice at home, rolled to an 11-3 win in Game 3. The employee was removed from the area and relocated to another part of the stadium. The man had a small camera and was texting frequently, but did not have a media credential.

During the Astros' series-clinching win on October 8 at Progressive Field in Cleveland, a man with a cellphone standing by the photographer's pit was removed "several times" by security personnel, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday night.

Major League Baseball told the Metro the matter is being handled internally. The incident is expected to lead to a fine for the Astros.

'I'm aware of something going on, but I haven't been briefed, ' Astros manager A.J. Hinch said after his team lost 8-2 in Houston in Game 3 on Tuesday. "I'm anxious about the game".

"Somebody mentioned (it) to me right now".

Major League Baseball chief communications officer Pat Courtney offered the Metro Times a statement via email, which said, "We are aware of the matter and it will be handled internally". 'They'll do what they have to do.

Boston is managed by Alex Cora, who is in his first year on the job after serving as bench coach last season for the world champion Astros.

Whatever the Houston Astros were trying to do at Fenway Park during Game 1 of the ALCS on Saturday night, they got caught. The series is now being played with a cloud of suspicion.

"MLB significantly beefed up its security presence at Game 3 on Tuesday, according to a league source with knowledge of its staff, sending three people from its baseball-operations office and another six security personnel to monitor the game", Passan wrote.

The Red Sox Game 3 win in Houston lasted almost four hours, which is long for a baseball game, although postseason contests are often so lengthy.
