Leroy Sané scores Manchester City's first goal against Fulham.

Raheem Sterling wrapped up the points once and for all with another goal at the start of the second half, and City's stranglehold over the game only strengthened as they cruised to the victory.

On the commencement of the second stanza, City netted again threaten with Sane bursting down the left flank before cutting the ball back for Bernardo, but the Portuguese effort from the edge of the box was blocked.

Fulham had, in contrast to many visitors to the Etihad, arrived with a clear intention to take the game to City but after that early setback the task was beyond Slavisa Jokanovic's side.

However, coach Pep Guardiola said they could have scored more goals and they must be more clinical in front of the goal.

In the Champions League final of 2011, they ran rings around a Manchester United team that could barely get near them for 90 minutes, with Lionel Messi at his imperious best.

Schurrle kept Ederson busy with another sharp strike from the edge of the area which needed to be tipped over, but City were back up the other end in a heartbeat and Sane nearly doubled his personal tally moments later when his shot was denied by Bettinelli.

And it's fair to say that the result is emphatic in favour of the great Barcelona side of 2011.

Bernardo Silva formed part of a frightening City attack that gave Fulham a torrid time for large periods.
