Next month, nearly every American with a cellphone will receive a text message from President Donald Trump-and there's almost nothing you can do to stop it.

On October 3, at 2:20 p.m. a message will crawl across television and radio broadcasts for 60 seconds. The reason for delaying the wireless alert test is unclear.

When the WEA test alert is issued, assuming nothing goes wrong, smartphone owners throughout the USA will see a message that says Presidential Alert as the sender, followed by the message: "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System".

You can not opt out of 'Presidential Alerts, ' but if you want to turn on or off AMBER or weather alerts, go to the notification settings on your phone. Do you know someone else we should interview for this story? This will be the first nation-wide test of FEMA's Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) system.

The test message will have a header that reads "Presidential Alert", according to the agency.

Since the wireless emergency alert system began in 2012, it has issued over 36,000 alerts for situations such as missing children, extreme weather and natural disasters, but never a presidential directive.

According to the Post , Ford is a professor at Palo Alto University who teaches in a consortium with Stanford University. "If Ms. Ford did not express her account until she spoke with a therapist in 2012. "He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing".

Users whose phones are on will twice hear a tone and vibration and then see an English-only (for now) message: "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed".

Despite the agency's assurances in their official press release, as well as reporting from CNN and other outlets, however, many on social media remain unconvinced that the Presidential Alert system can not be co-opted by Trump's more Twitter-centric tendencies.

If you receive an actual alert, how will you communicate with your family?

The WEA is a new way to reach an America increasingly attracted to fragmented forms of media found on phones, tablets and laptops.

For more information, visit FEMA's website which contains answers to many questions about they system and the test.

The original test was supposed to occur on September 20, but has been rescheduled to its October 3 backup date. Users will not be able to opt out of the test.
