The Met Office has named the second storm of the year Storm Bronagh and it is expected to bring rain to the North of Ireland on Thursday evening.

Most experts are in agreement that a series of fronts will bring heavy downpours with strong and gusty southwesterly winds backing to northwesterly across the north. Localised flooding is possible.

A frontal zone will bring heavy rain throughout today (Thursday) before the winds strengthen later in the day bringing strong winds through this evening and overnight into Friday.

Arriva Trains Wales suspended services between Carmarthen and Fishguard Harbour after a train hit a tree, but the line reopened late in the morning.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Most likely is that we will see gusts of 45-50 miles per hour in a few spots inland as well as more widely around exposed coasts".

Yellow is the least severe warning they can give.

"The good news is Storm Bronagh has cleared away now, so the peak strength of these winds has passed".
