This is the second rescue mission undertaken by the army this month.

An army statement said a helicopter plucked climber Alexander Gukov from Latok, at a height of 6,294 meters, about 20,650 feet, in a "daring rescue" in extreme weather yesterday, after six failed attempts.

The Russian climber Alexander Gukov has been shifted to a military hospital in Skardu city for necessary medical care, a statement from the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The Pakistani army has rescued a Russian climber stranded at a high peak in the country's northern mountainous region, the military said on Tuesday.

The Russian climber had been stuck since July 25 and had exhausted his supplies three days ago. In an accident, Glazunov fell to his death and Gukov sent an SOS signal for help.
