The former footballer Ronaldo has reportedly been admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Ibiza, after he came down with pneumonia.
Ronaldo, whose club career took in spells at Cruzeiro, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Corinthians, is on holiday in Ibiza, where he owns a house.
"Friends, I had a very strong flu in Ibiza and I had to be hospitalised on Friday but everything is in order", the legendary Brazil forward said on Twitter.
Later that night, the Brazilian requested a transfer to the Nuestra Señora del Rosario hospital, owned by private health company Policlinica.
At the time, the Brazilian managed to handle the indisposition humorously with his trademark smile via tweet from his hospital bed saying: "Good morning to all those who began the New Year with dengue". The hospital could not immediately be reached by Reuters for comment.
