Not only has Federer not lost a set in the tournament so far, and not only hasn't he been broken so far, he hasn't so much as faced a single break point.

The result extended Federer's run of consecutive sets won at Wimbledon to 32, two short of his career best from 2005/06, while he has not dropped serve at the championships since the semi-finals past year.

"Novak and Rafa, all these guys are still in the draw", Federer said.

World number one Rafael Nadal reached his first Wimbledon quarter-final since 2011 with a straight-sets win over unseeded Czech Jiri Vesely.

With the draw opening up in her favour, Williams is widely expected to make history with a first Grand Slam title since the birth of her daughter Olympia in September a year ago.

"It was great to win that first set so quickly", the eight-time champion said after booking a last-eight date with either South African eighth seed Kevin Anderson or resurgent Frenchman Gael Monfils.

Federer was in blinding form during the first set, which blazed by in 16 minutes, but after the Swiss missed four break points in the opening game of the second set, Mannarino made more of a match of it.

France's Adrian Mannarino, a five-set victor over Daniil Medvedev, awaits in round four.

A number of restaurants and private establishments also have taken measures to curb their use of plastic straws. Frappuccino drinks will still be served with dome lids, but with straws made from paper or compostable plastic.

Mannarino won only one point on his own serve as Federer hit 11 winners to just one unforced error.

Two double-faults from De Minaur followed by a net error allowed Nadal to serve for the first set, which he took easily.

When the practice schedule was released yesterday at Wimbledon, the first reaction was to wonder if there had been some mistake.

The Latvian player also reached the quarterfinals previous year in her best Wimbledon showing, losing to eventual runner-up Venus Williams. His win earned him the record of most grass-court wins with 175. Shouldn't really happen but thankfully they do for me. Here he was playing around with Mannarino but the drop in pace allowed the 22nd seed to get a foothold in the match.

The outsider, who beat Daniil Medvedev in five sets to reach the last-16, faltered at the worst possible moment, however, and gave Federer two break points at 5-5.

On No. 1 Court, three-time champion Novak Djokovic faces Karen Khachanov of Russian Federation.
