Noel Cintron, who served as the NY businessman's driver until Trump received Secret Service protection in 2016, is demanding the recovery of compensation from his time working for the Trump Organization in a lawsuit filed Monday with the Supreme Court of NY. The second raise, he added, came with a caveat: Cintron alleged he was forced to surrender his health benefits, "saving Trump approximately $17,866.08 per year in health insurance premiums". "He worked as long as 55 hours per week, but was paid a fixed salary of $62,700 in 2003, $68,000 in 2006, and $75,000 in 2010".
In December 2010, he was given a $7,000 raise to $75,000 a year, but only after losing his health benefits, saving his employer almost $18,000 a year in insurance premiums, according to the lawsuit. Cintron, a registered Republican, worked as Trump's personal driver for more than 25 years, according to Bloomberg. While the suit doesn't name Trump personally as a defendant, it accuses him of "callousness and cupidity".
The lawsuit says that Cintron was exploited, describing his treatment as being "in an utterly callous display of unwarranted privilege and entitlement and without even a minimal sense of noblesse oblige", and also pointed out the irony of working for a billionaire and being paid poorly. The Independent reported that Trump has been part of at least 135 lawsuits since he became the president, while Vanity Fair revealed back in 2016 that Trump has received more than 3,500 complaints from people who say they weren't properly paid.
The Trump Organization did not immediately return a request for comment.
Cintron, 59, lives in Queens, New York, his lawyer, Larry Hutcher, said in a phone interview.
