After a brief dry spell, monsoon rains resumed during Monday's hours-long extraction and don't show any sign of letting up soon.

Rescue workers in Thailand on Monday brought four boys safely out of a labyrinthine flooded cave complex where a 12-member soccer squad and their coach were trapped for more than two weeks, taking the total number rescued to eight.

The dry weather allowed workers to pump nearly a foot of water from flooded portions of the cave to help in the complicated and unsafe rescue.

Asked whether the remaining four "Wild Boars" team members and their coach would come out at the same time in the next rescue effort, he said: "It depends on the plan".

This mission was successful because of cooperation from everyone", he said. "For SEALs, this is what we were trained for". The trapped group in Thailand have now all been rescued from the cave, and are now recuperating in hospital.

They were found on July 2 by British divers after being stuck in a deep chamber in the cave system, dubbed as "Pattaya Beach", for nine days. He said he talked to Musk during his trip to Chiang Rai and thanked him for bringing his rescue equipment to Thailand for future use. The rescued boys are said to be in "high spirits". Since then, Thai and global divers and specialists have been strategizing how to safely extract the boys and their coach.

"On the behalf of Thai Government, I would like to reiterate my honest gratitude for the determination and sacrifice of all involved in this mission including individual volunteers, government officials, private companies and the press corp for their assistance in sharing expertise, manpower and equipment and also people around the world for their moral support throughout this ordeal", Prayut said in his address.

The first group of four evacuated on Sunday are aged between 14 and 16 and the second group rescued on Monday are aged between 12 and 14. Officials said late Sunday they'd need to pause the operation for at least 10 hours to fill oxygen tanks that had been depleted during the first phase of the mission. Authorities have not confirmed the identity of the rescued boys. All the boys were in good condition, Narongsak said. Narongsak said the rescued boys had not been identified out of respect for the families whose sons were still trapped, adding that the boys were being kept away from their parents due to fear of infection.

"The next step is to make sure those kids and their families are safe because living in a cave has a different environment which might contains animals that could transmit any disease", a hospital statement said.
