Leonard is keen to leave San Antonio after a fall-out with the organisation over the quad injury that kept him to just nine games last season.

The 76ers' future is incredibly bright, and while Leonard could take the team to new heights, he might not be worth such a massive move given the level of uncertainty.

However, there are some people around the National Basketball Association who believe it's only a matter of time before he is on the move.

As the Kawhi Leonard trade rumblings continue to unfold, the Washington Post's Tim Bontemps surmises that the Toronto Raptors have "generated buzz" as a potential landing spot for the San Antonio Spurs' beleaguered star. In fact, the Sixers reportedly are the only Eastern Conference team that Leonard has any interest in playing for.

Leonard has been closely linked to the Lakers given his reported desire to play in Los Angeles, but the James signing has complicated that option for the Spurs, who are understandably hesitant to hand L.A. what would arguably the NBA's top duo and help them to instant title contender status. "I think we certainly would add, and more than we would, we are really spending hour after hour trying to figure out how to add and try to manage those types of risks", he said.

"Why would Philadelphia give him [Pop] two starters and two picks when he's only going to be there for one year if he shows up?" And for someone like Kawhi, you absolutely have to get something in return.

Despite their worsening relationship with Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs are still hoping that they can get valuable assets that could keep them competitive in the Western Conference.

That would allow them to keep the core of young talent on their roster albeit weaken their hopes of challenging the Golden State Warriors this year despite James' arrival.
