"That's why I'm here, why I made the decision to come here, because I want to be part of this".

There has been discussion among City fans as to how boss Pep Guardiola will arrange his stunning array of attacking power next season, but Mahrez is confident he can thrive wherever he plays according to the Guardian's report.

Speaking at his first news conference as a Man City player, Mahrez said: "I have always believed that "H" (Harry Maguire) is a very good player, he has shown that since the day he came to Leicester and the season he had a year ago".

Mahrez, 27, joined the Premier League champions from Leicester City in a club-record £60m deal on Tuesday. We didn't think we were going to lose but we did.

After their title success, City are now striving to win the Champions League and that ambition was of huge appeal to Mahrez.

"They have everything they need to succeed in the Champions League and that's where I want to play".

Asked if he was anxious about the challenge of getting into the City side, Mahrez said: "No, I never thought about that". Now I'm here and I'm happy. I'm starting a new challenge and a new life.
