Johnny Depp Sued By Crew Member For Alleged Assault On Set

Lora Ball | 10 July, 2018, 05:55

Facing legal action from ex-business managers, ex-lawyers and ex-bodyguards and what could be an embarrassing trial later this summer, Johnny Depp has now been hit with an assault and battery lawsuit from the location manager of the upcoming City of Lies.

Depp allegedly punched the location manager twice in the rib cage.

Brooks claims that after Depp allegedly assaulted him, the actor yelled, "I will give you one hundred thousand dollars to punch me in the face right now!"

The 53-year-old allegedly freaked out after Gregg "Rocky" Brooks told him he had to wrap a scene because the permit was running out on the LA street that had been closed for filming.

It has been a tough few years for Depp who, in 2017, sued ex-managers Joel and Robert Mandel at The Management Group (TMG) for $25 million, alleging fraud and negligence, claiming they mishandled his finances and caused him to rack up more than $40 million in debt.

In the movie, "City of Lies", set for US release September 7, the 55-year-old Depp plays a Los Angeles police detective who for years investigated the still-unsolved 1997 death of the rapper Notorious B.I.G., also known as Biggie Smalls, whose real name is Christopher Wallace. "You have no right to tell me what to do!"

After telling this to Depp, Rocky became concerned about how he'd react so he went to get an LAPD officer for protection. Brooks also claims he was sacked when he refused to sign papers saying he wouldn't sue.

The lawsuit seeks an unspecified amount in punitive damages.

Earlier this year, two former bodyguards filed a lawsuit alleging that they were "forced to protect (Depp) from himself" in a variety of "toxic", unsafe situations, including when they had to dust drugs off his face in public.

Messages left seeking comment with representatives for Depp and the production company Good Films Productions were not immediately returned.
