Greenpeace lobbyists flew a Superman-shaped drone right into the no-fly area around a French nuclear plant on Tuesday prior to collapsing it versus the structure to highlight the center's absence of safety and security.

The drone, which was decorated like a miniature Superman, slammed into the tower in Bugey, 30 kilometres (20 miles) from the eastern city of Lyon, according to a Greenpeace video today.

Greenpeace said the spent-fuel buildings were not created to withstand outside attacks and were the most vulnerable part of French nuclear plants.

France produces concerning 75 percent of its electrical power from nuclear power in 19 nuclear websites run by the state-controlled EDF.

Insisting that the presence of the two drones "had no impact on the security of the installations", EDF claims that their spent-fuel pool buildings are robust enough to withstand natural disasters and accidents.

In order for these facilities to be more secure, the spent-fuel pool buildings must "be turned into bunkers", according to Greenpeace France's chief nuclear campaigner Yannick Rousselet.

Coffee could boost your chances of a longer life, study finds
While caffeine in large amounts can kill , it takes huge amounts of coffee to deliver a lethal dose - more than 20 cups at once. They found people who drank at least eight cups of coffee a day had a lower risk of some cancers and heart and lung disease.

"After entering the zone, forbidden for flights, our activists voluntarily threw it against the wall of the pool building for spent fuel..."

The drone stunt follows a series of staged break-ins by Greenpeace activists into French nuclear plants, which Greenpeace says are vulnerable to outside attack, especially the spent-fuel pools.

In October, a group of activists broke into EDF's Cattenom nuclear plant near the border with Luxembourg, breaking through two security barriers and launching fireworks over the plant. Recently, 19 protestors were handed put on hold sentences for burglarizing one more nuclear plant last November.

These stunts have sparked a parliament investigation into nuclear security, which is due to be presented on Thursday, Reuters reported.

In February, eight activists were sentenced to jail terms or fines after breaking into a plant and setting off fireworks previous year.
