Florida man shot, killed during parking spot dispute

Florida cops won’t charge man in shocking parking lot shooting over state’s ‘stand your ground’ law Gunman in parking space shooting not charged because of 'Stand Your Ground' law

At the news conference, Gualtieri, who is also a lawyer, said the outcome may have been different before "stand your ground", and maybe even before last years revision, pointing out theres a few-second pause between the time Drejka hits the ground and the time he shoots.

Gualtieri said only the details surrounding Thursdays incident are relevant when assessing the "stand your ground" claim.

A man who was captured on surveillance video fatally shooting another man in Clearwater, Fla., during a parking-spot spat will not be arrested or charged by police, according to Pinellas County sheriff.

"This will go to the state attorney". And, if he concurs, then there'll be no charge. He may be immune to arrest if authorities determine that Stand Your Ground applies. Their five-year-old son saw him, and has reportedly been "not too good" since his father was killed. The two then got into an argument because of where Jacobs was parked, according to police.

On Thursday shortly after 3 p.m., Michael Drejka, 47, got into a shouting match with a woman named Britany Jacobs who sat inside a auto parked at a handicapped spot outside of a small food store in Clearwater, Florida, a city less than 30 miles from Tampa, Gualtieri said.

Drejka could not be reached for comment Friday. McGlockton goes back inside the store where Markeis Jr.is standing. Later, his girlfriend ran into the store and applied pressure to the bullet wound in an unsuccessful attempt to stop the bleeding.

He was rushed to the hospital, but didn't make it.

Visa, travel issues had Vegas reeling during 1st round

The shooting "is within the bookends of ‘stand your ground and within the bookends of force being justified", the sheriff said, later adding, "Im not saying I agree with it, but I dont make that call". When deputies arrived, Drejka was cooperative with deputies.

The sheriff said that Drejka told deputies that he was in fear of a second attack.

McGlockton, whose 4-month-old baby and 3-year-old were in the vehicle in the parking lot, reportedly stumbled into the Circle A Food Store, wounded.

"[It's] sad to see [McGlockton] die in front of his son". For a stupid reason! Store owner Ali Selous says McGlockton was a frequent customer who was there buying candy for his little boy.

Deputies transported Drejka to the North District Station to be interviewed by detectives, who also took possession of Drejka's handgun.

Florida's self-defense law, like the laws in 26 other states, is known as "stand your ground", authorizing deadly force in self-defense with no duty to retreat from an attacker.
