It's been more than two weeks since the 12 boys and their soccer coach became trapped in the flooded Tham Luang cave at the Khun Nam Nang Non Forest Park in Chiang Rai.

The three Navy seals and a doctor who accompanied the boys in the cave complex are still inside.

Four more of the boys were carried on stretchers out of the cave on Monday, bringing to eight the total number brought out so far after two rescues in successive days.

Today, the four remaining boys were confirmed to have been rescued and were taken to hospital after Reuters reported that those in charge of the rescue mission were "hopeful" all 12 boys plus the coach would be out today.

Local governor Narongsak Osatanakorn said Tuesday's rescue operation began just after 10am local time and involves 19 divers.

Health officials have also previously said the boys would get a mental health evaluation, to address any problems caused by their ordeal.

"Hooyah! Mission accomplished", read another, echoing the rallying cry of the Thai navy SEALs involved in the rescue.

Soccer's governing body, FIFA, has invited the boys to the World Cup final in Moscow on Sunday if they're well enough to attend. The eight rescued boys are healthy are in 'high spirits.' They are under constant medical supervision to eliminate any risk of infection.

Two of the first group had a lung infection as well, and Thongchai said they would need medicine for seven days.

The second group of 4 that were pulled out afterwards are aged between 12 and 14. A Thai official has said that the third rescue mission has begun as of late Monday night. Doctors, though, said they'll have to remain in the hospital for treatment for at least a week, insisting they can watch the big game on TV.

The ups and downs of the rescue bid have entranced Thailand and also fixated a global audience, drawing comments of support from celebrities as varied as US President Donald Trump, football star Lionel Messi and tech guru Elon Musk. Each of the rescued boys has been guided through the dark, narrow cave by a pair of divers.

"FIFA's priority remains the health of everyone involved in the operation and we will look into finding a new opportunity to invite the boys to a Federation Internationale de Football Association event to share with them a moment of communion and celebration".

Tuesday, he tweeted from Thailand that he had been in the caves and that a mini-sub made from rocket parts and named "Wild Boar" after the boys' soccer team, was ready if needed and would be left in Thailand in case it could be of future use.

The third and hopefully final rescue mission is now underway.
