The average saltwater crocodiles, or Crocodylus porosus, can live up to about 70 years, according to National Geographic, and during that time, can grow 17 feet (5.1 metres) long and weigh 1,000 pounds (450 kilograms).

A smaller crocodile, measuring nearly eight feet, was also captured, according to the newspaper.

Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife posted on Facebook on Tuesday that rangers captured, sedated and moved a 4.7-meter crocodile.

Wildlife rangers in northern Australia captured a massive 600 kilogram (1,300 pound) crocodile after first spotting it almost a decade ago.

The crocodile was taken to a farm outside Katherine where it's likely to become the newest tourist attraction.

Wildlife officer John Burke said the capture was a "bit of a thrill".

Even their own fans did not expect them to achieve anything. "It is going to be hard and interesting for both teams". The largest fan zone is in Zagreb's main square, where thousands are expected to watch the game on a giant screen.

The 4.7m beast was found in a trap downstream from the northern outback town of Katherine after first being spotted in 2010. Satellite tracking had shown one croc tagged in a Northern Territory waterhole had swum 900 kilometers (560 miles), for unknown reasons, before returning to the same place.

"They were surprised because it's unusual to find a croc of his size in that area", she said.

"That sort of croc, in my opinion, is the most unsafe to people", Webb said.

Saltwater crocodiles have seen a population boom since becoming a protected species by federal law in 1971, Northern Territory-based crocodile expert Grahame Webb said.

"It's worrying, but it's good that they've got an active program and they've got active traps", he said.

NT Parks and Wildlife observed three large crocodiles during aerial surveys in May.
