Kudlow added that Trump was "not going to let a Canadian prime minister push him around" ahead of the North Korea summit.

United States President Donald Trump has accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of making "false statements" and said that Washington will not endorse a G7 communique, the media reported.

Trump made the comments in tweets from Air Force One as he headed to Singapore for his summit with Kim, stepping back from the generally positive tone that had ended the two-day meeting in Quebec.

The Elysee Palace was responding to questions about the outcome of the summit, after US President Donald Trump refused to give his backing to a joint declaration, despite hours earlier signing the communique.

Mr Trudeau, in Quebec City for bilateral meetings with non-G7 leaders after the summit, did not comment as he arrived.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said: "In a matter of seconds, you can destroy trust with 280 Twitter characters".

She took particular issue with Trump's previous claim that imports of Canadian steel and aluminum had made United States steel and aluminum plants unsustainable, thereby threatening national security.

Clearly, Mr. Trump saw things differently.

He then continued on: "And add to that the fact that the USA pays close to the entire cost of NATO-protecting many of these same countries that rip us off on Trade (they pay only a fraction of the cost-and laugh!)".

Trudeau had said Canadians "are polite, we're reasonable, but also we will not be pushed around".

Trade adviser Peter Navarro told "Fox News Sunday" that "there is a special place in hell for any leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy" with Trump.

Mr. Trump addressed the subject of worldwide trade during an impromptu news conference at the summit on Saturday, saying that he does not want to see other countries take advantage of the USA over trade.

"As a representative of IL, a state with one of the most important trade relationships with Canada, I have every desire to see our negotiations with Canada continue productively and beneficially, but Prime Minister Trudeau is sabotaging that cause by driving both sides into their corners instead of encouraging a more diplomatic dialogue", Krishnamoorthi said.

Negotiators worked late Friday to craft a statement that all seven leaders could sign. As he flew from Canada to Singapore Saturday night, Trump displayed his ire via Twitter, which he also employed to insult Trudeau as "dishonest" and "weak".

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in a statement: "We are focused on everything we accomplished at the G7 summit".

"We're like the piggy bank that everybody's robbing and that ends", Trump said.

By Sunday (June 10) morning, Trump's aides were adding fire to the attack on Trudeau.

Freeland touted Canada's retaliatory measures several times as she referred to Trump's tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum as "illegal and unjustified" and disavowed "ad hominem attacks".

The office of German Chancellor Angela Merkel also said it stood by the communique. Edward Markey (D-Mass.) said on CBS' "Face The Nation" that "right now, the President is actually driving our allies away from us as we need them even more, while welcoming in the Russians".

French President Emmanuel Macron said "international co-operation can not be dictated by fits of anger and throwaway remarks".

Navarro wasn't the only top Trump adviser to use his appearance on a Sunday talk show to take pot-shots at Trudeau for daring to respond to the president's tariffs.

But after negotiators for all seven countries crafted a final communiqué that even the reluctant United States delegation agreed to, Trump abruptly lashed out on Twitter from Air Force One on Saturday night.
