Donald Trump's attorney said North Korean leader Kim Jong-un begged "on his hands and knees" for a summit with the USA president, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

Singapore's foreign minister will make a two-day trip to Pyongyang starting Thursday, as preparations for the Trump-Kim summit in the city state accelerate.

However, on Wednesday, the lawyer was at it again, telling a business conference in Tel Aviv that Trump has a head start in the much-anticipated meeting with Kim, as it was allegedly the North Korean leader who had to do the begging to get the meeting back on the table.

The announcement came a day after the White House revealed that the historic June 12 meeting between the United States and North Korean leaders will take place in a luxury hotel on Singapore's resort island of Sentosa.

US officials believe Kim is anxious about security and the possibility of an assassination attempt at the high-stakes summit where he will meet President Trump for the first time after months of back-and-forth negotiations, sources told Bloomberg.

Trump and Abe will hold a joint press conference at the White House in the early afternoon, before heading to Canada for what promises to be a tense Group of Seven summit clouded by the U.S. leader's aggressive trade policies.

The historic U.S. -North Korean summit is set to take place at Capella Hotel in Singapore.
