Google is fully aware of Spotify and Apple Music's meteoric rise as the preferred on-demand music streaming service. This means they will get access to YouTube Premium in $9.99 (for the US).

"YouTube Music" was a part of "YouTube Red", that is the company's subscription video streaming service which was launched in November 2014.

Interestingly, since last few years, Google has been trying to acquire Spotify, but their efforts haven't borne fruit yet. It's now YouTube Premium.

MANILA, Philippines - Google's launched a rebranding and splitting up of what was formerly known as YouTube Red.

Albeit, powered with some extra punch as well.

YouTube Music will be rolled out to Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom in the weeks following May 22nd.

In terms of original series theme, which HBO and Netflix have used to the max, YouTube Premium talks about Cobra Kai, a Karate Kid saga, which is YouTube's original series.

Similar to YouTube Music, Premium will also first release in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea while stretching to the other nations soon.

Well, YouTube reckon you have space for the latter, because they're introducing YouTube Music.

It is now clear that YouTube Premium wants to position themselves as the most happening online music streaming service.

The growing adoption of paid music streaming has helped wean a generation of music listeners away from free or pirated music, and has led to services such as Spotify and Apple Music becoming the recording industry's single biggest revenue source. The app is free, however, it contains some ads, but there is also an advertisement-free version that contains some more features.

"While users can enjoy the new ad-supported version of "YouTube Music" for free, we're also launching 'YouTube Music Premium, ' a paid membership that gives you background listening, downloads and an ad-free experience for $9.99 a month", the post added. (YouTube Red's original video content will now be called YouTube Premium and will cost $12 (roughly Rs. 800) a month.) According to Mark Mulligan, a music technology analyst with Midia Research, about 5 million people are subscribers, with another 5 million paying for Google Play Music.
