Puyallup nurse linked to hepatitis C scare denies having the virus Puyallup nurse linked to hepatitis C scare denies having the virus

MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup is notifying certain patients who were treated in the Emergency Department during a almost eight-month period in 2017 and 2018 that they should be tested for Hepatitis C. The alert follows the confirmation that two patients who were treated in December likely contracted the disease while in the Emergency Department.

Weberg's attorney told the News Tribune that his client denies using the same needles on patients that she used on herself.

Portman said that the police "would have liked to have developed some more evidence" prior to placing the cuffs on Weberg.

Weberg, 31, said she was never been advised she might have Hepatitis C until the after the investigation started.

"Apparently there is a very low level of a pathogen in my blood that can constitute hepatitis-c but not at the low levels found in my blood", Weberg.

State officials said that two of the patients whom Weberg administered with pain medications later tested positive for hepatitis C.

According to intermediaries reached late Thursday, Weberg also questions whether she actually contracted hepatitis C. Reportedly, she cited test results that show possible exposure to the virus but not to a level that would allow her to infect others.

"Had I used a needle on those patients that I'd previously used on myself, there would be a strong genetic indicator linking me to one or both of them".

The odd saga of Weberg hit the newsstands when she was recently arrested at the Canadian border with her boyfriend.

"It has been said I was attempting to flee the country". Her Washington license is still active, pending investigation. She also said she informed the health department ahead of time that she was going on the trip.

The unidentified man's lawyer filed the suit on Friday. A press release said the suspension was for "alleged diversion of controlled substances". The suspension means that she can not work as a registered nurse until issues against her are resolved. But, Weberg and her attorney claim she never had hepatitis-c, saying she passed an initial blood test when the investigation began, and a second blood test later proved to be inconclusive if she had the virus. "This is false", said Weberg. Are these investigators - was the law enforcement, was the department of health, was Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department - are they incompetent or are they dishonest? "I think those are the two options".

Hershman pointed out that Weberg was released from jail with no charges pending against her. She obtained her Washington license in 2017.

The unidentified man's lawsuit alleges he went to Good Samaritan Hospital with kidney stones December 31 and received treatment from Cora Weberg, a nurse who was arrested May 4 on suspicion of infecting patients with hepatitis C. She was released from jail the same day as her arrest. She ultimately chose not to, according to Hershman.

Hospital leaders announced the infection of the two patients Monday, coupled with a public safety alert and a recommendation that 2,600 patients who might have interacted with Weberg from August 4, 2017, through March 23 of this year should seek testing and treatment.

Although most people do not experience symptoms, they can include vomiting, stomach aches or yellow skin or eyes, the hospital said.

When Good Samaritan leaders announced a public safety alert Monday, they announced they were certain that the two infected patients contracted the virus from the same source. This group represents less than 5 percent of the 54,000 patients who were treated in the Emergency Department during this period.
