After the revelation that ANC national executive congress (NEC) member and MP Mduduzi Manana physically abused his domestic worker, the ANC Youth League on Wednesday called for his resignation.

The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) is calling on Manana to resign. Charges were initially laid, but were later withdrawn.

In September past year, Manana‚ pleaded guilty to assaulting three women and escaped a jail term as he opted to pay a fine.

Dlamini said she was aware that on 7 May 2018 Manana issued a statement in which he announces his intention to "file a legal suit against the Wiro family for extortion as they demanded an amount of R100 000".

Manana is facing growing calls to step down in the wake of assault allegations against him by Wiro, who alleged that Manana tried to push her down the stairs for allowing a guest into his Fourways home without checking with him first.

"The new allegations levelled against me are both unfortunate and malicious", he said in a statement.

A family friend released the voice recordings that allegedly prove that Manana offered a R100 000 payment to Wiro in exchange for her silence. Manana's behavior or actions are not only in direct opposite of the ANC's values, principles and revolutionary morality, but they are unjustifiable, barbaric and inhumane.

"No individual or persons, irrespective of their standing or social classification has a right to mete [out] violence against any human being, especially against women and children".

The minister says she's concerned that the altercation between Manana and Wiro has played out in the media. Mr Manana was also to undergo counselling to address the underlying causes of his violent behaviour against women.

"As such, we encourage women throughout the country to continue to report crimes that threaten their chances at enjoying the liberties bestowed upon them by our hard-earned Constitution", said the minister.

A parliamentary committee will be investigating allegations that member of Parliament Mduduzi Manana assaulted his domestic worker.

Manana's former helper, Christine Wiro laid the charges against the former deputy-minister of higher education at the Douglasdale police station, northern Johannesburg last night - just three weeks into her job. "He has broken his oath of office and taxpayers should not be made to pay the salary of a woman abuser".
