
Shortly after the Supreme Court's ruling that the parliamentarians disqualified under Article 62 (1)(f) can not contest elections for life, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen expressed optimism that the apex court hearing his petition seeking review of its verdict that disqualified him as member of Parliament will decide the case in his favour.
He said his appeal against the disqualification verdict was pending before the apex court and expressed the hope that the decision would come in his favour.
Both PTI and PMLN have weakened the parliament, she said and added that the courts have taken the space of the parliament because both these parties dragged the courts into political issues.
Members of the bench that reserved the verdict are Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.
The court had grappled with Article 62 (1)(f) which only stated that a lawmaker is disqualified under specified conditions but did not set out the duration of the disqualification.

Separately, speaking to ARY News, Tareen said his case was completely different from that of former premier Nawaz Sharif as he had declared all his assets while the latter concealed his UAE work permit.
