In a press release, Paige dePolo, the lead researcher, said that the discovery of the site is very important because, from it, they can gather details that will help them picture what dinosaurs were like during the Middle Jurassic period, the pivotal time in the history of dinosaur evolution. They have discovered giant footprints of the dinosaurs in Scotland's Isle of Skye.

Dr Steve Brusatte, a geoscientist at Edinburgh University, said: "The more we look on the Isle of Skye, the more dinosaur footprints we find".

They were made two different kinds of dino, with therapod and sauropod tracks surrounding what was a shallow lagoon back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth and Northern Scotland was far warmer than it is now. As per the report, the team of researchers, including some researchers from Edinburgh University discovered around 50 footprints of the dinosaurs.

THEY were made 170 million years ago, but only recently uncovered by scientists.

These records are crucial, because it was an important time in the evolutionary history of dinosaurs - a fact that makes the lack of Middle Jurassic fossils frustrating for palaeontologists.

The research was particularly challenging as the footprints were found in a site that was subject to weathering by the waters at Brother's Point on the Trotternish peninsula on Skye.

He added that of the five people in the lobby at the time of the attack "my client was the only one who wore the hijab". The lawsuit also alleges that the hospital was negligent in not preventing the attack , and seeks $25,000 in damages.

The fossilized footprints were left by the 170-million-year-old early sauropods, which grew to at least 49ft long and weighed more than 10 tons.

Tidal conditions "made studying the footprints hard, but researchers were able to identify two distinct trackways in addition to many individual footprints", says Sky News.

Analysis of the clearest prints - including the overall shape of the track outline, the shape and orientation of the toes, and the presence of claws - enabled scientists to determine they belonged to sauropods and theropods.

Fossils from this epoch are "exceedingly rare", according to a study by the University of Edinburgh, Staffin Museum, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, published in the Scottish Journal of Geology.

In spite of this, scientists identified two trackways in addition to many isolated foot prints. "It was found in rocks that were slightly older than those previously found at Duntulm on the island and demonstrates the presence of sauropods in this part of the world through a longer timescale than previously known", lead study author Paige dePolo said in a statement.

A lot of them belonged to sauropods - long-necked herbivores such as Brachiosaurus.
