At the weekend, he and Malaschnitschko joined professional archaeologists to dig up an area covering 400 square meters (4,300 square feet), unearthing braided necklaces, pearls, brooches, a Thor's hammer, rings and up to 600 chipped coins.

The find was made in January when the boy, Luca Malaschnitschenko, and hobby archaeologist Rene Schoen were using metal detectors in search of lost treasures, the Associated Press reported.

"This is the largest single find of Bluetooth coins in the southern Baltic Sea region and is therefore of outstanding importance", excavation director Michael Schirren told DPA.

Jewellery linked to the era of Danish King "Harald Bluetooth", Gormsson, who lived in the 10 century, has also been found on a German Island.

But when the pair cleaned it, they understood it was more precious.

When they washed their find, they realised it was a piece of silver, according to local media. Then began the excavations of the archaeological state service, during which was found the treasure.

His songs were a reflection of Irish life and an important connection for the Irish diaspora. They said he would "be sadly missed by all who knew him". 'May he rest in peace '.

More than 100 of the coins have Christian crosses on them and are believed to have been minted in the kingdom of Bluetooth.

Gormsson was one of the last Viking kings of Denmark and became popular for bringing Christianity to the country.

The oldest coin uncovered at Rügen dates to A.D.

Towards the end of his life, Bluetooth's son Sweyn Forkbeard rebelled against his father and took the throne, while Bluetooth fled to Pomerania - northeast Germany on the Baltic sea - where he died a year or so later. He ruled between 958 and 986 and came to be known as Bluetooth because of his dead, blue-ish looking tooth. The company named the technology, developed to wirelessly unite computers with cellular devices, after him for his ability to unite ancient Scandinavia.

"We have here the rare case of a discovery that appears to corroborate historical sources", archaeologist Detlef Jantzen said.

The technology logo carries the runic letters for his initials HB.
