Two terrorists were gunned down in an encounter between security personnel and terrorists in Anantnag's Dooru area that started Friday night.

"Based on seizures made from the site of the operation it can be confirmed that the two terrorists belonged to JeM", a police official said.

Shesh Paul Vaid, Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu & Kashmir took to Twitter to inform that two AK47s, pistols, grenades and arms were recovered from the militants.

Jammu and Kashmir police said all the terrorists killed in the Kupwara encounter are of foreign origin, prima facie appears to be related to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). "A search operation is on", a police spokesperson said.

Following the encounter, the area around Shahstargam was cordoned off.

However, when the area was being sealed militants hiding there opened fire with automatic weapons, they told agencies adding security forces also retaliated ensuing an encounter.
