TDP quit due to politics, not development concerns: BJP chief

TDP quit due to politics, not development concerns: BJP chief TDP quit due to politics, not development concerns: BJP chief

After conducting a series of meetings with AP BJP's leaders and political consultants such as Prashant Kishor and considering intelligence reports over the huge furore against BJP among AP people, Amit Shah has "cried" over TDP quitting NDA in his 9-page letter.

The BJP chief Amit Shah penned an open letter to the Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu and described his decision of ending his party's alliance with NDA as "unfortunate and unilateral".

On March 8, the TDP had pulled its two Ministers - Ashok Gajapathi Raju and YS Chowdary - out of the Narendra Modi government, and subsequently also pulled out of the alliance. They're trying to say Andhra Pradesh government is incapable. "It's a decision; I am afraid, will be construed as being guided wholly & exclusively by political considerations instead of developmental concerns", Shah has written in his letter. He maintains that the Modi government stands for development of all and has "left no stone unturned" in ensuring growth and prosperity of Andhra Pradesh.

'Since the discussion of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh till present, it is the BJP that has led the voice of safeguarding the welfare of the people in both the Telugu states, ' he said. The TDP has been raising the issue in both Houses of Parliament causing disruptions and leading to frequent adjournments. "Had Andhra Pradesh been given the same hand holding, many industries would have come to the state", he said. "It is regrettable that some political parties are whipping up sentiments instead of engaging in informed debate", he said.

"The chief minister would soon write another letter to the BJP president with detailed clarifications to all the charges made by the latter".

Shah questioned TDP's accusation about the delay in the release of central funds, saying it was an "admission of your government's lackadaisical approach" and that the state did not act fast in implementing projects.

Providing numbers on the amount of funds granted to Andhra, the BJP Chief writes that the claim of discrimination is far from the facts.

As far as Polavaram Project was concerned, Amit Shah said that the Central government would provide 100% of the remaining cost of the irrigation component of the project starting from April 1, 2014 and said that the Centre had already released Rs 5,364 crore for the project. They stated that TDP has quit NDA only one week after pulling out its two MPs from Union Cabinet.
