President Donald Trump has had at least two conversations in recent months with key witnesses in the Russian Federation investigation, during which he asked them about matters they discussed with the special counsel Robert Mueller, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

MSNBC's Ari Melber got an earlier crack at Nunberg, the type of interview which, another MSNBC host later said, "we have never seen the likes of before in USA history".

Nunberg - who worked for President Trump's campaign before he was sacked in 2015 - also called Trump "an idiot", and added that the president "may have very well done something during the election with the Russians", a charge the president has repeatedly denied.

Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III has gathered evidence that a secret meeting in Seychelles just before the inauguration of Donald Trump was an effort to establish a back channel between the incoming administration and the Kremlin - apparently contradicting statements made to lawmakers by one of its participants, according to people familiar with the matter.

Former longtime Donald Trump aide Sam Nunberg had a wild day on Monday. "Let him arrest me".

He said the reason he wasn't going to the grand jury was because what Mueller's team asked for is "ridiculous".

Nunberg scurried off to phone MSNBC in the afternoon, where he started squawking to host Katy Tur in a completely addled manner.

And by the way, the aide involved in the McGahn part of this report?

He and Nunberg never overlapped on the Trump campaign.

"And if you didn't smell Roger Stone all over that prank, I can't help you". Later, Nunberg asked Jake Tapper for advice in how to proceed with the summons.

Video: Former Trump aide Sam Nunberg told reporters on March 5 that he'll refuse to comply with a subpoena in the Russian Federation investigation. Nunberg was sacked from the Trump campaign in 2015 after racist Facebook posts were uncovered on his personal account.

CNN spent a whopping 73.3 percent of its airtime covering Nunberg during that window, with MSNBC spending 56.7 percent of its coverage on the former bit player from the early days of the Trump campaign, according to the study. I don't know where it's going to all end - if it's dead forever - but 90% of the media is far-left-wing, and they are totally reliant on getting clicks and playing to their base and to their owners to support what their owners want. "I'm not paying the money to go down there". Business Insider had written about Nunberg's racially charged Facebook posts from years prior, and the nascent political organization jettisoned him. Nunberg went on the media circuit after special counsel Bob Mueller served him with a subpoena.

Nunberg is perhaps the only person questioned by Mueller and his team who is openly talking about it. The staffer said "anything that was posted under my name does not mean I posted it", and he later apologized in 2017.

The special counsel's questions about the Emiratis point to an investigation that has expanded beyond Russian meddling in the 2016 election to broader concerns about foreign influence during the presidential campaign and long after it concluded.

At one point, CNN's Erin Burnett even suggested that he might be drunk.

"He's too smart for that, he didn't want it", said Nunberg of the president.

The only ways to avoid a grand jury subpoena are invoking the Constitutional right to avoid self-incrimination or claiming attorney-client or executive privilege, but these are not always successful.
