Nun in Katy Perry real estate battle dies at court appearance
Sister Catherine Rose Holzman left who died on Friday with Sister Rita Callanan and Katy Perry

In what might truly be the most weird story to emerge from 2018, one of the nuns trying to prevent Katy Perry from buying an old Los Angeles convent and converting it into a luxury crash pad was apparently so done with Perry's shit mid-court proceedings that she died. "We extend our prayers today to the Immaculate Heart of Mary community and to all her friends and loved ones".
Holzman had recently been involved in a legal dispute over a vacant convent used by the order, which singer Katy Perry had offered to buy from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for more than $14 million in 2015.
Hours before her death, Holzman spoke to KTTV, decrying a judge's ruling that cleared the way for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to sell the convent to Perry. However, the Archdiocese Of Los Angeles argues that only it has the authority to approve a sale, and it wants it to go to Perry. More specifically they've said selling Perry the property would equate to "being forced to violate our canonical vows to the Catholic church".
The sisters also claim their convent is under direct control of the Vatican and the Archdiocese had no right to sell it.
But a judge ruled in the singer's favor previous year, saying the Archdiocese had the right to sell the property to her.
They had hoped to sell the property for a whopping US$15.5 million to restaurateur Dana Hollister in 2015, who had plans to convert it into a hotel.

Last year, a jury found Hollister guilty of malice and fraud for intentionally interfering with the sale of the property to Perry. A court ordered Hollister to pay back $15 million in legal fees to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and to Perry's company, The Bird Nest, LLC.
Perry's parents are both Pentecostal pastors and she was raised in a strict household.
Hollister declared bankruptcy soon after.
This led to two years of arguments between the Archdiocese, the nuns, Hollister and Perry as to who had the right to sell the property, and who had actually bought it.
