India survived late drama in a pulsating final to clinch the Twenty20 tri-series after Dinesh Karthik smashed the final ball for a six to secure their thrilling four-wicket victory against a gallant Bangladesh side on Sunday.

Barring their opening loss to Sri Lanka, India have had a successful tournament so far, winning the remaining matches and thereby topping the points table with six points.

However, a valiant effort by Sabbir Rahman powered Bangladesh to 166 with 77 runs to his name.

Skipper Rohit Sharma's (56 off 42 balls) dismissal set India's inexperienced middle-order in panic mode and Vijay Shankar's four dot balls off the 18th over by Mustafizur Rahaman made it very hard for India.

Chasing 167, India needed 34 runs from 12 balls when Karthik came to the crease and the batsman whacked 22 from the 19th over bowled by Rubel Hossain to ease the pressure.

The culminating match of the series will be the eighth T20 face-off between the two teams.

But Rohit and KL Rahul then got together to stitch a 51-run partnership, looking fluent and finding boundaries at ease. With India needing 12 off last over, it eventually went down to five off the last ball as Karthik slammed Soumya Sarkar for a flat six over extra cover to seal the game.
