Orlando Tercero is accused of killing 22-year-old Anderson after her body was found at Tercero's home located at 23 Oak Street in Binghamton, New York, on Friday, March 9.

Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell announced during the press conference that Anderson's cause of death was strangulation.

Both the suspect and victim studied nursing at the university, according to reports.

Anderson told Tercero she meant to file a report with police, he he told her he didn't think it was a good idea and Tercero never filed a report about his own tires, police say.

He allegedly fled the USA after the March 9 crime and was detained by police in Nicaragua when he was admitted to a hospital for treatment of self-inflicted injuries.

Tercero has since been remanded to judicial authorities in Nicaragua.

Police have charged Orlando Tercero with murder in the second degree for the death of Binghamton University Nursing Student Haley Anderson.

"Though we can not bring Haley Anderson back, we will fight for justice", he said.

"There is never a guarantee, but at this point and in the future, we are going to do everything we can to make sure that he returns", Cornwell said. "It could be as soon as a plane ride to Texas or Florida or as long as it takes but he will be back".

"The National Police received a request from USA authorities for the location and capture of the delinquent Orlando Enrique Tercero Moreno, 22 years old, who [entered] Nicaragua on Friday, March 9 at 3:55 p.m. from the US", Díaz said.

Tercero fled the United States last Friday for Nicaragua.

Meanwhile, police say Tercero, a US citizen, fled to Nicaragua last Friday prior to the discovery of Anderson's body. He angrily confronted her and shouted at her, supposedly angry at her for dating her on-and-off boyfriend. "She stated that Orlando then tried to smooth everything over with her by pouring shots for her and her friends, but that he had too many drinks himself and began throwing up". Anderson reportedly helped him get into bed.

"Haley stated that she believed but wasn't sure that a male named Orlando Tercero may have been involved with the damage of her vehicle", the report states.

The next morning she found her tires flat.

'Orlando is being detained by Nicaraguan authorities while matters are being further investigated, ' his attorney, Michael Bachner, told the New York Post.

The indictment against Tercero will remain sealed until he is returned to the USA and formally arraigned.
