The Miami Dolphins announced the signing of free-agent quarterback Brock Osweiler on Friday.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the news.

The Dolphins needed a backup quarterback behind Ryan Tannehill since Matt Moore and Jay Cutler are no longer on the roster.

Brock Osweiler is headed for a reunion in Miami as the Broncos continue to remake their quarterbacks room.

The former Kalispell Flathead quarterback went 0-4 as the Broncos' starter last season and has 25 career starts in six National Football League seasons.

Glasgow fire: Huge blaze hits city centre building - properties evacuated
But is has now been confirmed there is NO risk to the public from asbestos in building following a "shut your windows" warning. Assistant chief officer Lewis Ramsay said: "This is challenging - but the response of our firefighters has been outstanding".

After beginning his career with the Broncos in 2012, Osweiler left to sign a four-year, $72 million contract with the Texans in 2016. He struggled in his one year as the Texans' starter and was traded to the Browns.

Osweiler was the Broncos' second-round pick in the 2012 draft, the same year they signed Manning in free agency. He spent the past three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, and ran for 961 yards last season. Osweiler played in six games overall, starting four, finishing 96-of-172 passing (55.8 percent) for 1,088 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions.

The fit makes sense as Dolphins' head coach Adam Gase is familiar with Osweiler from their time together with the Denver Broncos.

Also on Friday, the Dolphins announced their signings of running back Frank Gore and offensive tackle Sam Young. His first season as a full-time starter turned in a roller-coaster as he threw 16 touchdowns in 14 starts, was demoted in Week 15, then promoted again for the playoffs. Cleveland cut Osweiler before the 2017 season, and he landed back in Denver. However, signing Osweiler may not preclude the team from drafting a quarterback in April's draft.
