Rain is expected to change to freezing rain and sleet late Thursday night, into Friday morning. The quick drop in temperature and rain followed by snow could very well create a repeat of earlier in the week with hazardous road conditions around the area.
The area, however, could see minor accumulations of ice and sleet and then snow later in the day.
There are no major changes to the forecast as we head through the day with the cold front blasting out of Kentuckiana by late morning with rain eventually giving way to freezing rain/sleet and eventually snow from west to east.
The weather service in Huntsville said a light glaze of ice and up to a half inch of snow will be possible through this evening. Currently, the Weather Prediction Center has a 70-90% chance that much of northern and western OH will have snowfall totals exceeding 3 inches from the storm (see map).
The MBTA continued clearing last week's snow on Thursday, removing accumulation "from canopies and roofs within the MBTA system that are known to be prone to falling snow hazards", the authority said in a statement.
The heaviest snow is expected from northwestern Pennsylvania into far northern NY, where upwards of a foot of new snow is expected by Saturday morning.
