Trump Doesn't Make Grade in New Poll

Donald Trump Trump Doesn't Make Grade in New Poll
Shannon Reynolds | 18 January, 2018, 03:56

Almost six in 10 respondents, 59 percent, said they think Trump doesn't respect people of color as much as he respects white people, according to the Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

It would seem that Trump's approval ratings quote is a spin based on a recent Breitbart piece that positively compares his 2016 vote share to his approval ratings.

Trump's current approval rating in Gallup's weekly poll is comparable to his average rating, standing at just 38 percent, with 57 percent saying they disapprove. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

The Dow roared past 26,000 for a time yesterday, and President Trump wants more credit.

As we have seen in poll after poll on his first year in office, almost 60 percent of the electorate dislikes practically everything he does, and every quality he displays.

The same poll found most voters overall find Trump to be intelligent and a strong person.

An overwhelming number of Republicans - 89 percent - believe Trump is mentally stable, while 80 percent of Democrats say he is not.

White men, Republicans and white voters who don't have college degrees disagreed, saying the president respects people of color as much as whites.

Health care has been a consistent low point.

Only 15% of Black Americans said they approved of Trump's job performance in the days following his inauguration last January - and it's only gone downhill from there.

The December 6 national poll found 47% of USA women say they've been sexually assaulted; people speaking up will make US better, Americans say.

That poll was conducted before the passage of a tax bill that Trump signed into law in late December, but there's little sign that the law will have an immediate positive impact.

Of course, the president sometimes leads the press down the s--hole of negativity with his feuds and attacks, from "Sloppy Steve" to "Dicky Durbin", but it's fair to question whether the market news-and a spate of stories about employers having trouble filling jobs-should be tied more directly to his policies. Almost two-thirds said that the president is doing more to divide the US than unite Americans.

In the January poll by Quinnipiac University, most voters said Trump is not level-headed, honest or even fit to serve as president.

The November 21 national poll found 60% of USA women say they've been sexually harassed; Trump job approval still stuck below 40%.
